Building Blocks
Building Information Modeling (BIM) Identifying the Risks and Liabilities
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the process of generating an accurate digital representation of a project, allowing the development team (architects, engineers, builders and owners) to deliver highly integrated design and construction solutions. BIM facilitates a highly collaborative process, and is being promoted as a solution to reduce inefficiencies in building design and construction.
However, there are many unanswered questions surrounding this technology, including:
- Does the joint sharing of data so integral to BIM create liability among project participants?
- Who is responsible for the final work product?
- Who owns and who has rights to the intellectual property and the final design?
Join us when a panel of BIM users are joined by law and insurance experts to discuss the legal and practical considerations of using BIM.
