Housing for Massachusetts Launches Campaign Against Rent Control Ballot Question

NAIOP's Advocacy Alerts in 2026 are generously supported by Issues Management Group and Pierce Atwood, LLP.

In December 2025, NAIOP joined other real estate groups in officially establishing Housing for Massachusetts as the official committee registered with the Office of Campaign & Political Finance to oppose the rent control ballot question.

On January 29, 2026, small property owners, local elected officials, Chamber leaders, and more joined Housing for Massachusetts to kick off the campaign to defeat what would be the most restrictive form of rent control in the nation. Housing for Massachusetts will remind voters about the state’s history with this failed policy, and the devastating impact it would have on housing creation.

The website, www.housingformass.com, will serve as the central hub for the opposition campaign, designed to inform and engage voters on the harmful impacts of this measure. Please visit this site for regular updates on relevant news coverage, press releases, and information on the progress of our campaign.

The NAIOP team encourages you to share the website with your networks to help raise awareness about the devastating effects this measure would have on our housing supply, our communities, and our economy. Make no mistake, this ballot question will impact everyone in Massachusetts, and it is essential that all voters understand how it will affect them.
